Quote of the Day

Quote of the Day

Today’s “Quote of the Day” comes from Lao Tzu:

“Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner.”

When we care about what others think of us we box ourselves in, and make it impossible to be ourselves. Because of this we miss out on what life has to offer; we’re to worried about what others will think.

  1. And this seems to be the last thing you wrote and it happens to fall on my birthday, curious indeed. I will agree with this as well. When you get so caught up in what others are thinking about you, it leaves no room for what you think about you, which is vastly more important. There are many things that only you know for you, and methods of living that will only work for you specifically because of you how you see your own life. So someone elses way may not be valid for you, because you do not have their mindset, their rules will not work for you, and your rules will not work for them.

I love that quote! Is that from the Tao Te Ching? When we feel inferior to others we become concerned with what others think. If we follow the Tao though, our concern becomes to harness our own potential through our Way.
